UNIT_8 Web_Mapping

For Unit 8 the assignment was to use the ESRI program ArcView Online to create a web map, unfortunately due to operator error and a stubborn website I could not accomplish this task.  I did try to create a working map off of my idea for the project.  Below are a few pictures of the map showing the buffer zone in the event of any of the nuclear power plants in the region would go critical.

 

The red circle is the 10 mile zone surrounding the nuclear facility, if you live in this area you will not have time to get to safety.  The yellow circle is the 50 mile zone, the fallout area, you may be able to get to safety with minimal exposure, but I would not count on it.

 

I was hoping to be able to get the information together and actually make a map similar to the other maps I have created usin ArcGIS. But was limited with time.  I will try to get that published even after the class is over.

For UNIT 7 you use the Multispec program to change an unsupervised classification image into a supervised classification image.

Exercise 1-4 takes you through the steps to accomplish this task:

STEP 1 (exercise 1) Display and Inspection: the original image file,

changed to gray scale,

shown side by side in multichannel,

add the latitude and longitude,

and finally change the display to thematic MODIS NVDI

STEP 2 (exercise 2) Image Enhancement: changing the blank space from black 

to white

using the three types of stretching: Linear, Equal area; and Gaussian

and the different ranges: Entire range; 2%; 4%; and 

                              STEP 3 (exercise 3) Unsupervised Classification (Cluster Analysis):

you learn to cluster the images

 and then how to change the color of the classes

STEP 4 (exercise 4)Supervised Classification - Select Training Fields: 

processing and classifying the image 

labeling the fields,

and producing the supervised classification image

Multispec Exercise 5 you learn how to combine separate images to create a multispectral image;

once you have added all the layers that you want to add, 

you then reformat and rectify the image to produce the multispectral image

In Exercise 6, you learn how to perform overlays in Multispec.  Starting with the base image 'L7_000606_Indy.tif, you then add the overlay of another file,

 in this case 'inrds.shp, which starts out with the roads being outlined as 1" black lines

and then you change the Overlay to white outline and 2" lines

Exercise 7 helps to learn how to use different coordinate views. 1st, three different systems: lines-columns; lat-long (decimal); and lat-long (UTM)

       and then the three different types of latitude and longitude: decimal; TM; and UTM

Exercise 8, Multispec, begins with taking an image file and reformatting to create different versions of the Normalized Vegetation Index (NDVI)
